Universal Profile Picture

Wouldn’t it be great if there were a central database somewhere in cyberspace that would allow you to associate a little picture–an small profile picture or “avatar”–with your email address so that whenever you posted something on a blog using that email, your picture would automatically show up by the post?

There is: http://en.gravatar.com/.

From the site: “Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog.  Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why not on any site?”

This assumes, of course, that sites are set up to pull from this database (most WordPress sites are, for example).

It takes about 5 minutes to set up.  If you spend any time on blogs, it’s worth the effort.
